University of Maryland, Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute 

The Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute, or MTECH, grows technology in Maryland through entrepreneurship programs, research funding for product development, business incubation, biotechnology services and training, and manufacturing consulting.

MTECH's entrepreneurship activities, housed under the umbrella name VentureCatalyst Program, include:

Hinman CEOs Program (living-learning undergraduate entrepreneurship initiative)

  • Technology Ventures Club (graduate student organization for exploring entrepreneurship)
     

  • Technology Start-Up Boot Camp (day-long workshop on how to launch technology-based start-up companies, taught by venture capitalists, intellectual property attorneys, entrepreneurs and service providers
     

  • Fundamentals of Technology Start-Up Ventures (graduate-level course)
     

  • UM Business Plan Competition (offers prizes and mentoring for students an alumni generating the best ideas for new companies
     

  • Regularly scheduled entrepreneurship training workshops, and seminars (events calendar)
     

  • VentureAccelerator: direct, hands-on mentoring for entrepreneurial faculty, researchers and students.

Enterprise Institute's Role in N2TEC

The MTECH Institute in the Clark School of Engineering is offering Invention to Venture bootcamps for technology entrepreneurs. The University of Maryland also serves has the leader of an N2TEC Commercialization Hub
