University of South Dakota

Research and scholarly activity are integral to the University of South Dakota’s mission.  The University of South Dakota has been recognized as a national leader in integrating research into undergraduate education and technology based rural economic development programs.

Medical and health related research represents the largest share of the University of South Dakota’s research activities.  These efforts included the Cardiovascular Research Institute, Neuroscience, and bio-informatics.  The University of South Dakota also has a large photodynamics research program.

Located in a rural state, the University of South Dakota has been a leader in research and technology based rural economic development that includes information technology based economic development programs, Native American entrepreneurship programs, and university technology transfer programs to rural communities. 

South Dakota's Role in N2TEC

South Dakota will develop and deliver technology entrepreneurship and commercialization education programs specifically for rural areas and facilitate the development of rural/urban research and entrepreneurship teams.
