Economic Gardening Boot Camp
News | 8:11 PM, Feb 06 2009

In times of economic transitions, layoffs and downturns the number of folks starting new businesses dramatically increases. It is a great time to travel - air fares are inexpensive. We invite you to attend the 2nd annual Economic Gardening Boot Camp in Fairfield, Iowa on April 1-2 followed by the 6th Annual Rural Entrepreneurial Gathering on April 2-3. Benefits of the Economic Gardening Boot Camp include:

  • Understanding how open-source entrepreneurial development works
  • How an entire town was turned into an incubator
  • How to nurture an entrepreneurial culture
  • 10 low-cost innovations to promote entrepreneurship
  • Economic Gardening 1.0 - 2.0  and site visits to economic gardening "hot spots" *
  • Presentations from innovative entrepreneurs

Meals will take place at a variety of unique dining spots and meetings will be at local economic gardening hot spots. There will be plenty of time for one-on-one or small group networking. We have had participants in the past from as far away as Alaska and Australia. Many folks have come back year after year for the inspiration and creativity.  You may attend either or both events. Attendees may like to stay over Friday night to experience the Fairfield 1st Friday's Art Walk and explore the community. Hosted by Fairfield First! and the Fairfield Entrepreneurs Association and Fairfield Convention and Visitors Bureau.  Contact Burt Chojnowski for registration details.
